is anyone looking forward to these?
I am sitting in the passenger seat of our minivan, along for the ride as Love decides we need to do something outdoors and fun. All I have wanted to do for the last week is curl up with hot chocolate, a book, and maybe some ice cream. I have actually finished three books in the last week, but there hasn’t been nearly enough curling up and zero ice cream. Tragedy.
The week ahead looks busy, too. I am not sure how homeschooling is going to happen. I am going to have to be creative. One morning for sure is out, another morning might actually be easier with Love home. I hope. I need God’s help to get some things done before the Monday outing. That sentence makes me laugh, as if I don’t need God’s help for my next breath. Like — “Ok God, You do this and I’ll do that.” Ahahaha.
I am still trying to accept where I am. I see in my children echos of my flaws and failures, and it is easy to despair. But I realize in despairing, I am pronouncing a judgment that God doesn’t. He is not finished with me yet, and if this is true for me how much more so for them!
We are almost at our destination.
I always have these profound thoughts that make me feel like I have a deep understanding, wisdom. But lately I am clinging to these verses:
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
O LORD, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the LORD
from this time forth and forevermore.
