I’m sitting in my car about to to go to BSF (bsf.org, check it out) and I just want to do a little jot about the weekend.
I turned off the 6am alarm Saturday, Sunday, and today. I could have let today go the way of Saturday and Sunday (indulgence and gluttony and selfishness), but by the grace of God I woke up on my own at 7am and went straight to the Word.
What did I find there but an echo from the sermon I heard the day before? You will not be able to serve Him, for the Lord is a jealous God (Joshua 24:19). The sermon was about how giving our entire selves is not “above and beyond” worship; it’s the only reasonable response to the gospel. But I think before we can understand that to be reasonable, we have to first understand that our sin causes a very real chasm between us and the Lord.
So I sat with that this morning. And I’m getting the very strangest realization from it: the answer to all of life’s struggles is not a plan of action or staying motivated. It’s relying fully on God.
And I need to go, but someone please ask me to expound on this later.
Wonderful as usual; please do expound💜
